Tabletop Harvest

I've been looking forward to putting this vintage California Hand Prints tablecloth on the tabletop ever since I found it last Spring. I think this tablescape captures the colors of the seasons perfectly.

A scene from Southern Vermont yesterday~

and the tabletop today!

I've been admiring these tall grasses on my walk home from the subway station each day. From time to time I see other walkers harvesting a few stalks, and today was my turn. Two kitties were very excited when I brought these plumes into the house this evening. Can you see an eager face in this shot?

The Simon Pearce vase is paired with a vintage cornucopia from Goodwill. I've seen this shape attributed to several manufacturers, but I think this one was made by a crafter at a ceramics workshop given the initials and the date on the bottom. The glaze may have crazed over the years, but that just makes it a better match for the crackle glaze on the vase. The ceramic gourds are from Pier One last year.

The placesettings feature Fiesta square dinnerware in chocolate and shamrock with lemongrass lunch plates, Mexican wine glasses, Bakelite flatware and contemporary napkins with Pottery Barn leaf napkin rings.

Thanks for visting this tabletop harvest! I'm also sharing this tabletop for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

  3. I LOVE this cloth!! The Fiesta is beautiful with it as are the glasses. I may just have to take the leaf out of my table and start finding smaller cloths. i'm envious of this one! Beautiful!

  4. Oh, I'm so envious that you were in Vermont this weekend. Wish I could've been there too. The colors look great!

Love this cloth, and your autumnal tablescape. The Bakelite-handled flatware is perfect. Cool napkin rings, too.

And BTW, the napkin rings in the Sept. 22 'scape look great with that awesome fruit 'n' pinecone cloth! Sorry I didn't see it when it was first posted. Happy to see you use them in such a pretty setting!

  6. Good Morning D!

Getting a late start this morning, but this is just the perfect tablescape to start the morning with! Just love the green background on this cloth. The pictures of this cloth that I have seen just don't do it justice like this 'scape does.

The cornucopia is the perfect accessory to bring out the theme ..... everything just looks wonderful!

    Re: kitties and grass
Not a good combo in this house. Homer is notorious for destructive activity where grasses are concerned, but he doesn't seem to care about fresh flowers

Lovely, lovely way to start the day!

  10. Your table is so pretty. I was in Maine this week and the leaves are at about the same stage--a little farther along than ours in Connecticut. Your plates work so well with the tablecloth. But that little mischief maker looks like he has plans for the centerpiece! Linda

  11. Oh what a beautiful tablecloth. And, I have a milk vase shaped like yours and have always wondered what I can put in it. After seeing yours I know I can use it for a beautiful autumn arrangement.

  13. That is really a beautiful tablecloth. I love the dishes you chose to go with it. Your center piece is perfect. if you ever want to get rid of the crazing. wrap the piece in a paper towel soaked in 40% hydrogen peroxide (from the beauty supply store) and then wrap in plastic to keep it wet. It might take two or three times, or 2 or 3 days to a week or more to remove it, but it does go away! Beautiful.

  21. You've done a magnificent job of integrating the design on your gorgeous cloth into your entire tablescape. Even the napkin fold repeats the motif of the wheat shape. So well done! I really like this. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
