Hello tabletop fans! I have a treat for you for this week's Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch. My friend Rebecca has invited us across the country to her tabletop for a polka dot celebration in gray and scarlet! I think these colors are just the ticket after our Halloween fantasies in orange and black.
This stunning Greek Key-themed vintage tablecloth sets the stage for a combination of vintage and post-86 Fiesta dinnerware. The vintage pieces include the sauceboat and nappy bowl in gray. A bread tray, hostess bowl, pasta bowl & pasta/salad servers, ramekins and figure 8 tray come from the P86 side of Homer's house. The polka dot plates are an exclusive design from the 2010 conference of the Homer Laughlin China Collectors' Association.
The placesettings include Bakelite flatware, vintage polka dot napkins, contemporary napkin rings and vintage scarlet stemware.
Rebecca has a clever solution for that tablescaper's delimma of candlesticks that won't fit in the candleholder. She places vintage glass votives in the pottery candleholder! Handmade origami roses in a gray Fiesta disk pitcher complete the accessories on this tabletop.
Thank you for having us over, Rebecca! You're a wonderful hostess.

I'll have to agree this is one of my bolder 'scapes! I came around the corner tonight and it almost took my breath away! Wish I had a crisper camera! Thanks for letting me stop by and share!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice combination, red/gray/white...the tablecloth is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI liked this table the minute I saw the polka dots. LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautifully arranged. Love the red bakelite flatware. I'm always on the search for pieces. Would love to find some red.
Thanks for sharing your fun tablescape. ~ Sarah
This is what I love about a red table... watching how it pops against white. So cute, and I love the polka dots and the Greek key desgin in the cloth. Love the flatware... Bakelite is always fun, and the red goblets, too. All so festive!
ReplyDeleteRita, the minute your blog opened I was in love. Those blue and white plates!!! Wonderful. I also like your cute stands with the cups and saucers. I couldn't get the second two pics to load, but I clicked on the first one to get a better look. Very pretty.
Happy Tablescape Thursday...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Pretty nifty! I love the red goblets and the polka dots -- all around fun.
ReplyDeleteYowza!!! Beautiful table, and I LOVE the polka dot napkins and scroll napkin rings! It's hard to find grey, so you did a wonderful job! It looks great with the bright red. Have a terrific week!

Hi, just wanted to drop back by and let you know that I left an earlier comment for you when it was very, very late last night. The following is what happens when you are up past your bedtime, blogging when half asleep...
ReplyDeleteThis morning, I got an email from another blogger who said I had commented about her table, but I had actually mentioned another blogger's table in my comment, too. She was concerned that I didn't leave the comment for the other blogger. Then it dawned on me what happened! To wit, I have started copying posts after I write them in case blogger has a glitch (which has happened about a dozen times lately). This saves me from having to type them over. Well, due to the lateness of the hour, I apparently copied another post I had written and added it to someone else's! I feel like a complete loonie tune.
I started checking and found the post I had copied and then started backtracking. Yours was the first I found with the "extra" post, and at first I thought you were the one who kindly let me know about my glitch so I could post to Rita and asked for Rita's address. So I wrote another post prior to this and posted, and THEN I realized, wait a minute, you weren't the one who wrote me and asked for Rita'S blog addy! LOL! Now, I know you are convinced, I am certifiable! Anyhow, I erased that post.
So if you will kindly allow me, I will repeat the part of the post meant for you. Here goes:
One thing I didn't mention in my other comments above is how much I like the fact that every other place setting is in reverse. That is just so cute. And the grey, white, and red cloth is the perfect backdrop for the red and white plates. I love red and white because they pop so well off of each other. And I am a HUGE polka dot lover as evidenced by my own tablescape today. As a matter of fact, while I showcased black and white polka dot butter knives, I also have some red polka dot butter knives that would be perfect with this tablescape. May I borrow it??? Love it lots!
XO,
Sheila... who truly is not certifable, only terribly sleep deprived! :-)
Thanks for your note, Sheila! I had a feeling something like that had happened. If only we had all the time we wanted for playing in blogland!
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you!! thats a beautiful tablescape!!
ReplyDeleteLovely table! I got a kick out of the red glasses being called "vintage," as I have the same ones, wedding gifts back in 1972! They work great in this tablescape!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed my visit to your blog!! Wonderful textures on your table!

The goblets are Viking Georgian! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I think you have to serve Greek salad in that big scarlet bowl. Would go great with the Greek design on the cloth! Love the dots and geometrics!
ReplyDeleteXOXO, S.
