Hello Flamingo!

 photo IMG_0068.jpg

 photo IMG_0057.jpg

This cloth had been on my wish list for a long time. I found it at the September Brimfield, on a table full of vintage cowboy boots. The boot seller indicated it had been her grandmothers. I'm so glad she was willing to liberate it from being a boot display. Why the delay in sharing my Brimfield finds? This cloth was entered in a "Guess the 'Scaper" contest. No, I did not fool anyone, but the cloth got rave reviews. The little tortoiseshell and green Bakelite fish also came from B'field. The shell planter is by Hall.

This Brimfield find was a great match for late summer blooms.

Harlequin on the Riviera

 photo IMG_0218.jpg

Rose reissue Harlequin meets Becky Blue Riviera for a beach 'scape.

 photo IMG_0212.jpg

The napkin rings are acrylic. They are a super mid-century find from Wickford, RI.

The Ivan Bartlett shell cloth is the pink colorway. It's a nice compliment to the peach version. I'm not sure if these are actually different cloths or if my peach cloth is a faded version of the pink.

 photo IMG_0222.jpg

I don't know the maker of the vase or the shell planter, but I love how they look with the blue Riviera. Windsor Diamond depression glass, Deauville flatware and vintage cocktail napkins complete the table. Ahhh summer! We don't way to say goodbye to you just yet!

Ken Scott Meets Nathalie Lete

 photo IMG_02042.jpg

I received this Ken Scott Leacock Bouillabaisse tablecloth for my birthday. I really love how it works with these Nathalie Lete plates from Anthropologie.

The napkin rings feature Maine sand dollars. The candle holders are Abingdon pottery. I'm amazed at the way the cloth brings together such a range of Fiesta colors: scarlet, heather, tangerine, marigold, rose and plum! Yes, I also have this cloth in the blue colorway. Don't ask me to choose which one I like best!

Apologies to Nathalie that Blogger will not take the code for the accent aigu.

Matisse Goldfish

 photo IMG_0175.jpg

This 1990's tablecloth draws inspiration from the Matisse goldfish series.

 photo IMG_0176.jpg

I love how the colors in the cloth work with Fiesta from that era.

The embossed fish saucers are not Homer Laughlin, but they work well with the tripod bowls.

Dots Take Boston!

 photo IMG_0137.jpg

HLCCA conference goers had a wonderful surprise waiting for us when we visited the Homer Laughlin China Outlet earlier this month: lapis salad plates and mugs decalled in polka dots! I shipped mine home to avoid airline issues, and it was a challenge to wait out the arrival of that box.

 photo IMG_0138.jpg

 photo IMG_0139.jpg

These lapis pieces are a wonderful next chapter in the dot saga started by HLCCA when it offered white and scarlet pieces at the Nashville conference in 2010.

 photo IMG_0147.jpg

I decided to punch up the color on the table with the small marigold rice bowls I also found at the outlet.

Thanks for this Fiesta surprise, HLC! You knew just what would make our blue stripe pieces even more fun.

Dining with Lapis

 photo June27001.jpg

I took lapis for its first spin around the dining table using Southern Living's Zucchini Mushroom Linguine.

The recipe and the color were wonderful together.

Roses

 photo June20002.jpg

We're nearly done with the first round of roses for 2013. The bushes are so strong and healthy this year. Fingers crossed that we've defeated the winter moths that plagued them last year.

Hello Lapis!

 photo June20010.jpg

It's very nice to meet you. Now that we've been formally introduced, I can understand all of the confusing photos that have been posted for this new Fiesta color. The camera has a hard time reading this lovely medium blue shade.

 photo June20011.jpg

The lapis individual pasta bowl is sitting on a sapphire plate. The mini pitchers are (left to right) cobalt, periwinkle and peacock. Now let's add a vintage Riviera creamer.

Can you see the difference between sapphire and lapis in the afternoon sun? It's as if a little bit of peacock glaze has been blended into the sapphire formula.

 photo June20008.jpg

Lapis looks great inside, too.

I'm going to enjoy adding this new hue to the tabletop!

Tabletop Garden

The lilacs in my Garden Club arrangement are filling the living room with such a lovely scent. They inspired me to do a full tablescape with the Startex peony tablecloth.

The border pattern on the cloth drapes perfectly on my tabletop. I had been thinking about crafting this cloth into a circle skirt to wear to the HLCCA conference. Now I see that it needs to stay intact for the table.

The placesettings feature P86 Fiesta in turquoise, chocolate, lemongrass and flamingo. The flatware is vintage Oneida Deauville.

The glassware and watering can napkin rings were local finds.
