Hello Tabletop Fans! How about some vintage Santa plates for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch?
These Rhythm plates are a Homer Laughlin design from the 1950's. It's possible that the Santa faces were added by another company. I like the plates with these vintage Libbey glasses that illustrate Santa's adventures in the chimney.
This Hall Adele teapot is the perfect shade of green for the tablecloth. The teacups are the two styles of Fiesta demitasse cups: stick and ring handled.
Santa will be here before we know it!
I could just die!!Those plates are so fantastic! I will be on the hunt for these! I love the tablecloth and glasses too! You've done a beautiful job! :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteDaphne, your tablescape is great and I love the plates. Have you told us the story of how/where you found them?
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite Christmas combo! The plates and too funny glasses are just so happy-love it:@)
ReplyDeleteDaphne, I love all of this - the glasses, the plates and for some reason especially the stick handled teacups!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, eveyrone!
ReplyDeleteI found these Santa plates on ebay last year. The seller had quite a few, maybe even a couple dozen, split been several different auctions. I have seen this decal on other dish lines on ebay, but never any on Rhythm since. This leads me to believe that these plates may have been purchased as blanks from Homer Laughlin and decorated by another company.
The decals are not very high quality, and I think they survived well only because they were never used. The dishes have no utensil marks at all! The large number on auction made it seem as if someone bought them on clearance years ago with a party in mind but never used them. Yes, I do like to make up stories about the dishes! They could have been new-old-stock from a store, too.
I don't buy nearly as much on ebay as I used to, but it is still a good place to find what I call "Old Homer Christmas!"
What a darling table! I love the plates, but those glasses are really something special! SO cute!
ReplyDeleteOh your tablescape makes me feel merry and bright!
ReplyDeleteSeasons greetings to you and yours.
Oh what fun! Those dishes are to die for! HL and Fiesta are my faves and now I'm on the trail to find some just like yours. Thanks for sharing this wonderful table!
ReplyDeleteOh, that vintage tablecloth is so gorgeous and yes, those Santa dishes are to die for!
ReplyDeleteThe Santa plates from the 50's are outstanding. I love the shot of black in the napkins...it really plays up the animated nature of the plates. Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteLove those fun glasses! Everything looks so wonderfully festive on your table.
ReplyDeleteOur grandfather provided the artwork for these Santa plates. I would love to find more if anyone has found some.
