Tenth Wedding Anniversary

July 28 will be our tenth wedding anniversary, and we've been celebrating all week. We especially enjoyed this miniature version of our wedding cake.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Flamingo's First Flight

I've just returned from a wonderful trip to Kansas City for the annual conference of the Homer Laughlin China Collectors Association. Each year our conference includes a tablescape competition. I sat out this year, because the regional jet I took made it too challenging to travel with dishes. Here's the table I would have showcased, the first flight of flamingo on my tabletop! Flamingo is the new Fiesta color for 2012.

My mother found this vintage salt and pepper shaker set during a recent beach trip. She did not know that I had this cloth. What a perfect match!

Flamingo just pops with chocolate, lemongrass and marigold!

We're going to have a lot of fun with this color!

My Great Grandparents' House

Last month we attended the family reunion for the descendants of my great-grandparents on my father's father's side of the family. I thought you might like to see a few pictures of my great-grandparents' house in Georgia.

The home was built in 1865 by another relative, and my ggp's raised twelve children there during the Depression. The house was no longer in use by the 1960's. We're very fortunate that cousins renovated the home in the 1980's and now live there full time.

There are so many great details in the home. The magnolia trees in the yard are legendary for their blooms and for the weapons the dried seed pods provide for endless childhood games!

What a wonderful weekend!

Happy Independence Day!

P.S. You can see another tabletop using this Boston cloth here.
