Red Stripes for Boston

Today Rebecca and I are having some fun with a vintage Boston tablecloth that she found in her hunting and then repatriated to the East Coast.

The cloth works so well paired with Retro Red Stripe Fiesta. Now we Fiesta collectors have been discussing whether we like this design better on the tabletop or in the display cabinet. I like it on the table, but I think it's important to break up the stripes with another color. I used vintage cocktail napkins for contrast in the next photo.





I think the stripes need the visual contrast. Here's another look with some black salad plates.





Here's the updated Red Stripe display featuring another wonderful gift I received from a dear Fiesta friend, the Red Stripe Tea Pot.

Sailing Into Fall

I'm not ready for fall colors yet. How about some scarlet and white polka dots and sail boats?







Fuzz got into the act, assisting with his first tablescape.

These napkin rings came from Newport, RI.



How about a close up of the design on the cloth, which was an ebay find.



The glasses came from an antique shop in Rowley, MA.

Red Stripes and Jingle Bells

California

I found this California souvenir cloth at Wamsutta antiques in New Bedford, MA.

Wilendur Pond

This primary toned colorway of the Wilendur pond cloth is a nice compliment to the more muted version.

Early America

Fellow collector Dennis S. and I did a tablecloth swap. I received this cloth, which is perfect for a tabletop so near the Lexington Battle Green.

Polka Dots and Bows

Andrea B. also has this tablecloth, and we used it during the tablescape summit in March 2012.

Geraniums

This lovely geranium print cloth was a gift from a family friend.

Portland Head Lighthouse

This Artex lighthouse tablecloth came from the September Brimfield Show. Check out the late 70's/early 80's style of printing on the maker name.



The image mirrors itself in a repeating pattern.
