Botanical Buckeyes

This week we're enjoying a vintage Wilendur Buckeye tablecloth for these first days of Fall.

I was happy to find a few buckeyes from trees near my office for use in the centerpiece.

The placesettings feature Fiesta dinnerware and Oneida Deauville silver plate flatware. The small oval platters make great underliners for the individual bakers. I was lucky to find these lemongrass platters at the Homer Laughlin outlet in July.

The vintage napkins are from my grandmother's collection. The horn napkin rings are a gift from a friend. I love how the rings shimmer in the candlelight.

The plates on which the votives are resting are from a Homer Laughlin line called "Flip Side." As the name implies, the decoration on the plate is on the reverse, making them excellent candle holders.

I'm sharing this botanical tabletop for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Bringing In A Little Nature

It's time for a little change on the mantle. I brought in some of Nature's Fall finery to dress up the cream and red stripe pieces there.

A few pinecones and some tall grasses welcome the new season.

We'll see how long I can leave these plumes in the vases. Sparkle & Fizz find them most appetizing, and I really don't what to see what happens when a cat lands on the mantle.

I also spruced up the arrangement of the red stripe Fiesta with some metal holders for the tumblers and glassware. No natural accents here, since they are in the kitty zone.

The centerpiece from last week's table is resting high atop the Hoosier.

We'll enjoy these little autumnal changes for ten days or so until it's time to enjoy the Halloween decorations. I'm sharing these little bits of nature for Seasonal Sunday at The Tablescaper and for Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Through Life.

Calendar Cloth

I love, I love, I love my calendar cloth!

I was so happy to find this 1950's calendar cloth. The graphics depicting each month are fabulous, and I've decided to use the images as the inspiration for a tablescape each month. Here's September's edition, just in time to welcome the Equinox on Friday.

This jar contains souvenirs from a nature walk I took with my husband in 1998 on one of our early dates.

The placesettings make good use of my new tabletop treasures that arrived on Saturday. Hall 2991 salad plates rest on Fiesta dinner plates. I really like having another American made dinnerware line to use with the Homer.

The leaf napkin rings and the squirrel candle holder are both from Crate & Barrel. I purchased them several years apart, but the burnished metal treatments match well.

I really like the acorn details in the centerpiece as well.

Other items on the table include Gibson flatware, contemporary napkins and glassware, chocolate Fiesta pyramid candle holders and a persimmon millennium three vase.

I'm excited to use this cloth for other holidays. Orange is going work well for this season...it could prove more challenging for future months! Let's see what the calendar cloth will bring.

I'm sharing this first tablescape of fall for Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch.

P.S. Here's a link to this cloth in another colorway with the tag at The Vintage Table.
